Telarc Workplace Safety Code

This Code of Practice has been developed to provide small to medium sized enterprises with a model for their health and safety management systems. It is based upon the AS/NZS 4801 Health and Safety Standard, and the Health & Safety in Employment Act. However, it recognises the less formal structures and systems adopted by small businesses.

The Telarc Workplace Safety Code will typically be adopted by small to medium sized enterprises:

• Wishing to implement sound health and safety systems for the protection of their employees, sub-contractors, visitors to the site and the well being of the company
• Subcontracting to, or supplying companies that require formal safety systems to be in place
• Subcontracting to, or supplying government agencies, local authorities, public utilities and wholesale and retail traders
• Wanting a straightforward health and safety management system that can be enhanced to either full Accident Compensation Corporation Workplace Safety Management Practices or AS/NZS 4801 Standards compliance at a later date.

If you have an ISO 9001 system in place, the successful implementation of the Telarc Workplace Safety code will give you the added confidence that you are meeting your basic statutory obligations as an employer.
